What is that blog title?
I have recently rediscovered this blogger account through reading the hilarious musings of my Line Manager, post tough mudder type 5k marathon thing. Thankfully there are no cringe-worthy posts from a younger me that have just been rotting away in public view.
I made this blog when I was around 15 so you can imagine the kind of content an edgy teenager would write. Actually, I'll show you. I found this wonderful gem hanging out in my drafts...
Examining the photo, this was probably drafted one late night during my first year of uni. Clearly trying to be some romantic brooding starving artist type. Though I do want to reach into the past, grab myself by the shoulders and yell at my past-self to NOT LEAVE PAINT BRUSHES SITTING IN THE WATER JAR. People go on about how naive they were as youngins but I still own those brushes, with their forever bent fibres and feel I was the definition of naive.
The only visible ghost of the past is the title of this blog; Nonsensical Simplicities of a Complex Mind. What does that even mean, 15-year-old Naomi?! That title harkens back to 2004 when I spent most of my time on DeviantArt, Yahoo IM and MSN Messenger. When my home internet was still dial-up and my PC was running (more like chugging along) on Windows ME.
I probably thought it sounded cool in a clumsy poetic kind of way. It doesn't make much sense, but then again I haven't changed much in that department. I still often fail to make sense of stuff and some of the shit that comes out of my mouth and mind is nonsensical.
As a 30-year-old I can look back at past me and not feel ashamed of the person I was. Yeah, we all have moments of cringe, but I think who I was back then was still pretty genuine and kinda cool. I have always lived by the now popular mantra "be your most authentic self", I've always been a bit odd and I intend to carry on in the same vein, to be honest. I like being an oddball.
So I'm gonna keep the weird title of this blog, 'cause really the stuff I come up with is, at its core, Nonsensical Simplicities of a Complex Mind.
